spedex.com > Welcome
Welcome to our (finally!) redesigned site.
The new site has been designed with universal access, ease of use, and speed of loading in mind.
- We are proud of the fact that spedex.com meets all THREE Priority Levels for accessibility - 2 more than ADA requires. Universal Access ensures that ALL people, regardless of physical ability, geographic location, or speed of computer can use this site. CSS enables users to readily change the look and feel of the site to suit their particular needs, without forcing the requirements of those needs on all other visitors.
- We have tried to make the design and organization of spedex.com as simple as possible, while still maintaining a bit of style. Navigation has been moved to the top of the page, and is consistent across the site. "Breadcrumbs" will allow users to backtrack from where they were before any particular page.
- With the exception of the logo located on all pages, and some of the AdSense ads, all other elements are strictly CSS - no large graphics to slow down a page load.
The old content has not completely been migrated to the new - we are still in the process of deciding what can stay, and what needs to stay. Current areas, and their status:
- Forums - NEW!
- Job Exchange - fully migrated
- Directories - migrated, but submission forms unfinished
- Store - fully migrated
- Resources - estimated migration, May 2008
- ePoster Sessions - estimated completion, June 2008
We hope that you find the changes we have made useful, but want to assure our guests that spedex.com will always work to make this site useful AND accessible to ALL.
Whether you are an educator, professional, parent, consumer, student, or just someone interested in special education, we hope that you find what you need here at spedex.com. We continue to strive to provide resources such as links, online documents, listings of professionals, job listings, school and university listings, and "poster sessions" in easy-to-use formats.
Since first launching the web version in 1996, spedex.com has relied on you to help us grow. With that in mind, we welcome any suggestions you may have in regards to the content we should provide, and are always actively soliciting any articles or documents you may wish to share for the benefit of others.
We hope you continue to find spedex.com of value, and we look forward to serving the Special Education profession for many years to come.
Enjoy your visit (but, please, pardon the dust)!
