Teacher of the Visually Impaired : (TOSA) CIMC

Duties: Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Colorado Instructional Materials Center (CIMC). This position reports to the Director of Outreach Programs/Services, and is responsible for coordinating the services of the Colorado Instructional Materials Center (CIMC) in providing Braille, enlarged print materials and other specialized aids and equipment to students who qualify for services by a licensed teacher of the visually impaired in Colorado. Provision of appropriate services for students who have vision needs throughout the state through outreach services and programs may also be required based upon outreach requests received.

Qualifications: BA or MA in Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree in the Education of students with vision disabilities preferred. Must hold or be eligible for appropriate educator license in the State of Colorado; Must hold or be eligible for appropriate educator licensure in the State of Colorado, with endorsement as a Special Education Specialist: Visually Impaired, or comparable endorsement; Three or more years of experience teaching children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities in educational settings preferred; Demonstrated competency in Braille or ability to demonstrate competency within one (1) year of hire as evidenced by possession of a Colorado Department of Education Certificate of Braille Competency; Proficiency or commitment to work toward proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Novice skill level as demonstrated by an appropriate assessment tool and according to school policy.
