Consultant - Services for the Visually Impaired

Duties: Confers with and advises school district officials and staff as to appropriate procedures, standards and practices required in educational programs for individuals with visual loss; confers with governmental and other organizations to inform them of services for individuals with visual loss provided by the state; examines, reviews and evaluates programs for individuals with visual loss offered by local school districts and other organizations; trains clients, school districts and organizations in the proper use of adaptive materials and equipment; participates in child study committee deliberations as a qualified professional in the areas of blindness and visual loss; participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
Qualifications: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a master's degree in an educational area, PLUS three years of professional work experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator or managing an educational program.
