Teaching and Assessing Judgment for Crossing Streets
Where There is No Traffic Control This videotape shows the two criteria that I think are necessary for crossing these streets safely, and the Timing Method for Assessing the Detection of Traffic (TMAD) to help determine whether a street fits the criteria (this introduction is 20 minutes). It then shows four sessions demonstrating a procedure which I use to assess or teach people to judge whether or not they can detect traffic well enough to know when it's safe to cross. Lastly it shows how I used the TMAD with a woman who struggles to decide whether to use her vision or her hearing to detect those cars. The videotape is 2 hours, and costs $6 in U.S. (including shipping), $8 from Canada, $10 overseas by surface mail, $12 for airmail overseas. Send a check and your address to me at the address below.
