Full Inclusion Questionnaire

 

As part of a project for a doctoral seminar course in special education, we would like to receive feedback on the topic of full inclusion of special education students in general education. We are interested in the perspectives of teachers, parents, and administrators and would appreciate your expertise. Please respond to the question or questions that pertain to your area of interest/experience.

We do not want any identifying information. However, a brief description of your background (i.e., teacher of the visually impaired, general education teacher, parent of a child with a disability, etc.) will be helpful. We thank you for your feedback.

1. What successes and/or obstacles have you encountered in including students with emotional/behavioral disorders (E.D.) in general education? What suggestions do you have for making education a successful experience for these students?

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of inclusion for students with learning disabilities (L.D.)? What suggestions do you have for making inclusion work for students with L.D.?

3. Do your students with disabilities have assistive technology (A.T.) to enable them to communicate (verbally or in writing), or to perform other tasks? What are your experiences/feelings about A.T. in helping students with disabilities?

4. Do you feel that your blind and/or severely visually impaired students have adequate time to benefit from a blindness curriculum (braille, orientation and mobility, etc.) when they are in an inclusive setting? Please relate your experiences, successes, and concerns.

5. From an administrator's point of view, what have been the successes and/or pitfalls of implementing "inclusion" in your school or district?

6. As a parent of a child with a disability, what have been your experiences, successes, concerns, and perceptions of inclusion? What suggestions do you have for other parents?
