Duties: Instruct and train adults who are blind/visually-impaired in the use of a variety of techniques and strategies which result in safe, efficient and independent travel in any environment; orient and familiarize consumers to training/job sites, and other environments; present in-service workshops; conduct low vision assessments; recommend low vision aides and provide training in the use of those aides; and advise other team members of the consumers needs for training and adaptive equipment.
Qualifications: BA in O&M for the Blind from a certified college/university AND one year job-related experience; OR a Master’s degree in O&M. Three months experience as O&M instructor preferred. Must meet certification requirements for Certified O&M Specialist. Students in O&M program who need to complete an internship for their degree will also be considered.
Additional Information: A training assignment is also available for this position. To be eligible, an applicant must possess a BA in Education, Human Services related field, or other related field and be willing to commit to obtaining a Master’s degree in O&M.
